Clean Up Australia

Clean Up Australia began on 11 September 1993 by an Australian named Ian Kiernan. Ian Kiernan is a yachtsman. When he was sailing home from an around the world trip, he was horrified by pollution in the oceans. On his return to Australia, he began the Clean Up Australia Campaign which happens every year in September.
