Christianity

Jesus Christ is the Saviour of Christians. The Angel Gabriel announced to Mary, a virgin of Nazareth, that she would be the mother of the Saviour of the World. Jesus was born in a stable in Bethlehem. A star heralded his birth, which brought poor shepherds and rich wise men to visit the baby saviour.

Jesus began his teaching at approximately the age of 30. Jesus' mission was to announce the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God is based on the love for all people and the mission for followers is to be actively involved in good works towards others, especially the poor, the weak and the disadvantaged in society. It is the job of those who are able, to assist those who cannot help themselves.

Jesus gathered a group of followers, but became unpopular with authorities. He was betrayed, tried and condemned to be crucified. Following his crucifixion, he rose from the dead and after appearing to his disciples, he ascended to heaven to be with God, his father. He sent the Holy Spirit to his disciples which allowed them to continue his work.
