Australia is an island continent in the South Pacific to the east and the Indian Ocean to the west. Australia is a multicultural country. Many people from other countries have come to live in Australia. Aborigines are indigenous to Australia and have lived there since at least 500 BC. Europeans arrived in Australia in 1770 and in later years, people have come from all over the world. Dreamtime is the spiritual belief system of the aborigines. Christianity is the main religion, but many others world wide religions are practised by many Australian people. |
